EIM Hosts Open Text Strategic Roadmap Session
Held in a beautiful conference room overlooking the Statue of Liberty, several key firms in NY & NJ joined together in mid-December for an in-depth look at Open Text's strategic direction. The presentation highlighted not only the strategic direction of Open Text but also included related key products which support that strategy. A lively roundtable discussion followed enabling attendees to discuss their own strategic visions and learning more about how Open Text solutions support and enhance those objectives.

Open Text Content World 2009
October 25-30, 2009
JW Marriott, Orlando , Florida
We suggested the following sessions
of interest:
Performing an eDOCS System
Audit at Fox Rothschild
During their deployment of Open Text
Document Management, eDOCS Edition
(formerly eDOCS DM), Fox Rothschild
was experiencing performance and product
issues that they were unable to resolve.
An Open Text technical support specialist
came onsite to help. A system audit
was conducted, recommendations were
made and best practices discussed.
After implementing the changes, the
system stabilized and Fox could continue
and complete their rollout. Join this
session to hear first hand from the
staff of the firm what they learned
from this experience and how their
user community reacted.

EIM
Client Paul Wittekind to speak at Content
World Conference: “Lessons Learned
at Porzio, Bromberg & Newman PC
-- Open Text
eDOCS DM & Microsoft Office 2007”
Thursday, October
29, 10:05 A.M.
Hear the lessons learned from someone
who has experienced a Microsoft Office
2007 migration integrated with Open
Text Document Management, eDOCS Edition
(eDOCS DM). Paul Wittekind, Director
of Information Technology Services
at Porzio, Bromberg & Newman P.C.
will present how Porzio, Bromberg
& Newman, a mid-sized New Jersey-based
law firm, decided to implement extensive
process-changing applications via
upgrades to eDOCS DM 5 in conjunction
with Office 2007. The firm desired
to consolidate its many "silos"
of information into a single location
that users could access seamlessly,
either independently or from within
Microsoft Outlook. It eased the transition
by borrowing the features of the familiar
matter and file folder metaphor that
were best suited for organizing electronic
data. What challenges did Porzio encounter
during its implementation? Have the
attorneys and other personnel actually
benefited from the latest features
of Open Text's solution? What lessons
can other firms learn from Porzio's
implementation of these two significantly
upgraded products? Attend this session
to learn the answers to these questions
and more.

EIM helps Fox Rothschild Fulfill a Strategic Vision with Open Text eDOCS DM5
Background
Fox Rothschild had a vision. In 2006, the firm performed an analysis of its matter lifecycle with the goal of being able to better organize and manage its matter information more effectively. One important aspect of meeting its goal was developing a standardized taxonomy that would span both electronic and physical matter work product. Through careful review, a practice-based, firm-wide classification standard was created for all data – electronic or physical.
Could a system reflect the standard file folder inserts that are created at matter opening – whether physical or electronic? And could the same values be extended to the firm's critical matter life cycle systems?
Using eDOCS DM the firm was able to apply this same taxonomy to all electronic work in progress files, providing an easy way to correctly categorize and retrieve work in progress.
